Lymph Compound

Lymph Compound is a concentrated, topical supplement formulated to support skin experiencing puffiness, lack of contour, and stagnation in the face and neck. Therapeutic, whole-plant extracts of conifer trees and organic herbs activate pathways of movement and detoxification within the inner waters of our cells and tissues, encouraging the release of stagnation and metabolic buildup. As fluidity returns, skin appears clearer and naturally more contoured and defined.

KEY ACTIONS

  • visibly defines facial contours
  • clarifies, clears, and decongests
  • supports fluid movement and relieves puffiness

CONVENTIONAL COMPARISON

Proper lymphatic movement ensures the healthiest aging possible, both by the removal of cellular waste and by assisting with nutrient delivery to cells and tissues. This lymphatic fluid beneath the surface of our skin mirrors our own movement. If we are tense, stressed, or inflamed, our lymph system can become stagnant. When lymph isn’t flowing effortlessly, the result can show up on our skin as dull, depleted, puffy, or congested, eventually leading to chronic concerns like acne, rosacea, or hyperpigmentation.

Lymph Compound supports the movement of fluid beneath the surface, creating clear pathways for detoxification and cellular nourishment. We work with 7 whole plants known for their lymph system affinity and ability to restore movement to stagnation. A combination of gently stimulating shrubs and conifers, WHITE PINE, JUNIPER, and ROSEMARY are all fluid thinning and warming. Those mechanisms support circulation and fluid movement with various phytochemicals like rosmarinic acid and terpenes.

At the center is Rosemary, the foundation of the formula, providing a subtle release of physical and mental tension. It softens the grip of the body and mind, allowing fluids to move and functions to happen with ease.

Traditional, lymph-loving, alterative herbs RED CLOVER and FENNEL support detoxification pathways and help maintain elasticity through nutrients like magnesium and isoflavones.

Completing the formula, polysaccharide-rich BLADDERWRACK SEAWEED and mineral-dense SEA SALT bring in the rhythm and minerality of the ocean, encouraging flexibility throughout the extracellular matrix beneath the skin and the release of stagnant fascia.

SENSITIVITY NOTE
Our Compounds are not recommended for reactive skin (with the exception of Soothe Compound).

Due to the phytonutrient potency of our Compounds, we do not recommend them for those who are brand new to Laurel Skin, but rather for those who are already using a Laurel Skin ritual with ease.

Some Compounds are meant for layering, and the Lymph Compound is one of them. It works to support the actions of a wide variety of skin care rituals. Pair it with any other Compound for enhanced support with longterm conditions like acne, hyperpigmentation, or simply for vibrant aging. When using two Compounds, apply Lymph Compound first to the neck and chest to support movement in these key pathways, followed by an application of any other Compound on your face.

100% Whole Plant Organic

ROSEMARY
Abundant in rosmarinic acid to facilitate fluid thinning, releasing stagnation and blockages beneath the skin. This biodynamically farmed shrub is rich in minerals, antioxidants, and ursolic acid, which increase the skin’s production of natural ceramides and collagen type 1, firming the skin and connective tissue. Rosemary improves cellular response to inflammation, increasing strength and resilience. It also has a regulating effect on the nervous system, easing tension in both face and mind.

RED CLOVER
This nourishing purple blossom is filled with isoflavones shown to firm and strengthen the skin. A cleansing, lymph-mover, known as an ‘herbal alterative’, assists our cells in the management of metabolic waste through the appropriate pathways.

JUNIPER
A precious shrub that brings life to seemingly barren desert landscapes. This conifer is a common decongestant, with the ability to thin fluids, reduce inflammation, and increase circulation. This stimulating lymphatic ally warms our tissues and promotes the movement of both blood and interstitial fluid. Juniper’s leaves and berries provide nutrients like vitamin E, carotenoids, and flavonoids that strengthen and brighten the skin.

WHITE PINE
This long-needled conifer is a profound healer that grows abundantly throughout the US. Healing pine resins have been used by herbalists for centuries to rapidly reduce inflammation, balance microbial loads, and stimulate cellular repair. Modern research has shown that shikimic acid, a natural AHA found in White Pine, is an effective skin decongestant and lymph-thinning mover. Pine terpenes have a relaxing effect on the body and speak directly to our lymphocytes and immune system, encouraging self-regulation.

FENNEL
This resilient weed is rich with collagen-protective compounds like ferulic acid and caffeic acid. Fennel supports how tissues and cells respond to toxins and waste build-up, preventing lipid oxidation and protecting cellular DNA from damage.

BLADDERWRACK
Rich in vitamin B and polysaccharides, Bladderwrack seaweed excels at intensely hydrating and soothing the skin. High in fucoidan, a phytonutrient shown to increase collagen synthesis to firm, strengthen, and rebuild the skin. Seaweed and Sea Salt bring in the energy of water, promoting ease of movement within fascia and connective tissue.

Laurel Skin Compounds break an industry mold. A new approach to plant-active skincare and cosmeceuticals, these Compounds have created a first-of-their-kind category.

While it’s common practice for natural skincare to include lab-made synthetic cosmeceutical ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, or hyaluronic acid, we see imbalance in that formulation approach. Those ingredients force the skin into specific actions without providing the complex synergistic nutrients needed to sustain those actions in a balanced way.

The Laurel Skin Compounds provide whole-plant alternatives to common cosmeceutical serums, like retinol, vitamin C, and niacinamide.

These herbalist-created, topical, whole-plant skin supplements are formulated to support the skin through both momentary flare-ups and chronic conditions. Used by the drop with our Hydrating Elixirs, the Compounds support specific skin concerns and evolving symptoms of imbalance, allowing for a more customized Laurel Skin Ritual.

Each Compound is a labor of patient dedication, taking several months to create. Containing multiple types of plant mediums, medicines, and techniques, the intricate process involves each plant undergoing a diverse array of maceration, extraction, and infusion. This process ensures that we capture the complete phytonutrient profile of each whole plant in the final product.

This category and approach is not only unheard-of and unprecedented, but proudly unreasonable.

Life Underneath
Just beneath the skin’s surface flows a life-giving current known as our extracellular matrix. This consists of helpful nutrients like electrically charged minerals and polymers like hyaluronic acid. It also contains anything we don’t need, like cellular metabolic waste and excess proteins and lipids – all floating in a sea of fluid.

In order for our capillaries to diffuse nutrient-rich blood to our skin cells, those nutrients have to travel through that sea of fluid. If that fluid gets bogged down by inflammation, excess, or stagnation, that will show up externally in the skin as dullness, edema, puffiness, or acne. If the nutrients can’t get to their final destination, that can show up as accelerated aging, weakened elasticity, and more chronic conditions.

Our lymphatic system is what keeps this excess fluid moving out of our extracellular matrix by filtering it and returning it to the circulatory system. When we support lymphatic movement, we are actually nourishing our tissues, clearing waste, and helping keep skin vibrant. Moving through a connected network of vessels, the lymph system acts as a clearing pathway, carrying waste out and making more space for nutrient delivery.

Supporting lymph through daily habits can have a meaningful impact on skin health and longevity. We explore that connection more deeply in this entry in our Apothecary Pages.
