Night Balm

Night Balm is a concentrated, waterless moisturizer; the richest Balm in our line, formulated to support the skin’s overnight repair. Restorative lipids and antioxidant-rich plants help regenerate tired skin and repair free radical damage. A three-month infusion of whole plants is layered with raw, unrefined oils to strengthen connective tissue and brighten tone, restoring firmness and structural integrity.

KEY ACTIONS

  • Overnight repair from the damage of oxidative stress
  • Keeps skin firm, supple, and deeply moisturized
  • Supplies nutrients for collagen integrity and cellular renewal

SKIN TYPE

Healthy aging for devitalized skin; suitable for drier skin types

Our balms are waterless moisturizers, a format we have worked with long before it became a skincare trend. Without water, emulsifiers, or preservatives, every ingredient in the formula is present solely to benefit the skin.

Formulated with 26 whole plants, Night Balm begins with a three-month infusion of medicinal herbs slowly steeped into a regenerative blend of fresh, unrefined oils. At the center of the formula are ROSEHIP FRUIT + SEED and ROSE PETAL, all parts of the same plant working together to restore the skin. Rosehip Fruit and Seed are rich in vitamins C, E, and A, alongside synergistic carotenoids and flavonoids. This combination of nutrients found in the Rose plant has been long valued for supporting the collagen matrix, minimizing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and promoting cellular renewal. Rose petals provide ceramide-like lipids that help strengthen the skin barrier and improve visible firmness.

POMEGRANATE OIL brings long-chain lipids that help cushion and replenish the skin barrier, while vibrant SEA BUCKTHORN delivers concentrated carotenoids and essential fatty acids that promote brightening and resilience. Alongside these oils, tonic nutritive herbs like NETTLE, GOTU KOLA and HORSETAIL provide a broad spectrum of minerals and nourishment that replenish what daily stress can gradually deplete, promoting firmness and structural integrity. COMFREY leaf, an herbalist’s whole-plant retinol, keeps the skin renewing and regenerating, encouraging healthy cell proliferation.

Essential oils of WHITE ROSE, SANDALWOOD, and MYRRH are present in microdoses, included for their traditional affinity with skin repair and evening restoration, adding an aromatic grounding warmth to the Balm.

SENSORY PROFILE
How it feels: a colorful, rich balm that melts with warmth and leaves a soft, luminous finish
How it smells: crushed rose petals, earthy herbals, fall fruits, faint smoky resins

PHYTOCHEMISTRY PROFILE
Night Balm contains these notable phytonutrients, along with many others:
essential fatty acids (including omega 3 and GLA), carotenoids (including beta carotene, zeaxanthin, lutein, lycopene, ++), vitamin E, phytoceramides, phytosterols, resveratrol, flavonoids (including rutin, quercetin, catechin, anthocyanin, ++), various polyphenols, vitamin A, palmitic acid, squalene, vitamin C, allantion, phytosteroids (triterpenoids), xanthones, oligomeric proanthocyanidins, vitamin D, ferulic acid, caffeic acid, gallic acid, resins, rosmarinic acid, ursolic acid, zinc, selenium, tannins, potassium, copper, manganese, magnesium, sesquiterpenes, santalols, santalenes, curzerene, geraniol, nerol, pinene

USAGE
Scoop out a small amount of Balm (about 1/4 of a pea size), and apply to damp face, neck, and chest, after Elixir and Serum.

RITUAL
Night Balm can also be used as an intensive treatment mask. For those who don’t wear balms daily, this is a beautiful way to experience the full density and reparative nature of its plant nutrients.

After cleansing, apply a generous layer to the face and massage slowly into the skin. Begin with deeper movements to release facial tension, then soften your touch and encourage gentle lymphatic flow downward through the neck. The balm will gradually melt with the warmth of your hands, allowing the oils and herbal infusion to fully infuse into the skin.

Leave on for 10–30 minutes. Remove any excess with a warm, steamy towel, then finish with several mists of Elixir and a drop of Serum if desired. Skin is left deeply nourished and receptive to overnight repair.

BALM RESTORATION
If your Balm melts in transit, it could have textural changes that make it less smooth. While this does not affect product performance, a smooth Balm texture is often more desirable. If you would like to restore your Balm’s texture, follow the instructions in this video. Do not leave your Balm in a hot location like your car or near a sunny window.

Use within 6 months of opening and by the recommended use-by date, which is found on the bottom of the bottle. Store this product in a cool, dry, and dark place.

100% Whole Plant Organic

ROSE
Our organic White Rose essential oil is gentle and soothing to the skin while offering deep support for connective tissue. Rose has long been valued for helping soften the appearance of fine lines and for its powerful antioxidant activity.

SANDALWOOD
Our Sandalwood is sustainably and organically cultivated in Hawaii and slowly distilled by a master artisan over several days. Its unusually rich structure makes it more lipid-like than many essential oils, offering deep moisture and exceptional gentleness for delicate skin.

POMEGRANATE OIL
One of the most treasured oils in our apothecary, Pomegranate is naturally viscous and cushiony. Its long-chain lipids help replenish and comfort skin barriers that have been weakened over time by stress and inflammation.

ROSEHIP
Our Rosehip Oil is unique because it comes from both the fruit and the seed, allowing a wider spectrum of vitamins and nutrients to remain within the oil. Few oils match the complexity of Rosehip’s composition, which includes naturally occurring retinoic acid, vitamin E, carotenoids, flavonoids, and vitamin C. It has been traditionally used and widely studied for its ability to reduce the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation, while supporting collagen and connective tissue for smoother, more resilient skin.

SEA BUCKTHORN OIL
This vibrant superfood oil is extracted from both the fruit and the seed, preserving its wide range of essential fatty acids, vitamin C, and carotenoids. Sea Buckthorn supports connective tissue strength and helps maintain skin resilience and visible firmness.

Ëšorganically grown ingredient

Laurel Skin formulas set a benchmark for high ingredient and formulation standards that the beauty industry would collectively consider unreasonable. Here are a few highlights that set our Night Balm apart:

  • Exclusive use of freshly pressed, unrefined, virgin oils to maintain antioxidant and nutrient availability
  • Exclusive use of 100% organic, biodynamic and regeneratively grown plants
  • A 3-month whole-plant infusion in every bottle
  • No lab-made, synthetic isolates, bioidenticals, or biomimetics – only whole plants
  • Micro-dosed essential oils for immediate phytonutrient support, without overwhelming the skin
  • The abbreviated list above cannot be found elsewhere – our level of care and integrity is proudly unreasonable.

CAN YOU USE TOO MUCH BALM?
It’s a common myth that oils cause breakouts, but this is not quite accurate. What is true is that the skin can only absorb so many lipids at once. If a Balm or facial oil is sitting on the surface rather than melting in, the most common reason is simply that too much has been applied.

Most creams and lotions are made with roughly 70% water to create a stable emulsion. Laurel Skin Balms contain no water at all. They are composed entirely of plant oils, waxes, and whole-plant infusions, making them far more concentrated than conventional moisturizers.

Because of this concentration, only a very small amount is needed. When transitioning from a cream or lotion, begin with about one-quarter of the amount you would normally use. With no fillers or emulsifiers present, the Balm delivers dense plant nutrients in a much smaller dose.

For more thorough hydration and lipid absorption, apply a Hydrating Elixir generously, prior to Serums and Balms. Applying a Balm to dampened skin will help it absorb more quickly, delivering nutrients more deeply and immediately to depleted skin.
